PE 2020 Initiative

As you know, pelinks4u has been featuring excerpts from NASPE's PE2020 initiative in our monthly publication. PE2020 is focused on an examination of the future for physical education. Rather than letting ourselves constantly be shaped by outside forces, PE2020 urges those of us who concerned about physical education to take control of our own future. Here's what you can do.

1. SHARE YOUR PE VISION
The first part of the PE2020 initiative involves a sharing of visions. What would you like physical education to become? To date more than 500 visions have been submitted to the www.pe2020.org web site. If you have not already shared your vision please write a brief (500 word maximum) statement and submit it to the web site. You are also encouraged to have your students write and submit their visions.

2. PARTICIPATE IN THE PE2020 NATIONAL FORUM
On March 29th at the San Diego national AAHPERD Convention, there will be a one-day (08:00 - 4:00) PE 2020 forum. There is no cost to attend but this is a PRE-CONFERENCE event and if you are planning to come to San Diego please plan your travel and hotel reservations to allow attendance. Conference registration is now open so please plan to come to the PE2020 National Forum on Tuesday, March 29th.

3. JOIN THE PE2020 EMAIL LIST
You are invited to join an email list devoted specifically to issues related to the PE2020 initiative. This is a ONE-WAY email list (called a listserv, similar to the one that is sending you this message),  which means that you will only receive occasional informational messages and not be deluged with constant emails. Only the list owner can mail to everyone. By joining the list you can stay informed postings to the PE2020 web site,  the San Diego forum, and future events. If you would LIKE to receive this information you must JOIN the list by doing the following:

(a) SEND AN EMAIL TO THIS ADDRESS

(b) DO NOT  WRITE ANYTHING IN THE "SUBJECT" LINE OF THE EMAIL

(c) ENTER THE FOLLOWING AS YOUR MESSAGE (Please do NOT enter anything else such as "I would like to to subscribe...." etc. Just enter the following text)

(d) SEND YOUR MESSAGE

Unless you hear back that your message was not delivered you will be subscribed to the list and sometime in the next month will likely receive information about PE2020. If you have problems you are welcome to email steve@pelinks4u.org for assistance.
