Improving Community Education Grants from Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. Fuel Up to Play 60 - Fuel Up to Play 60 is pleased to announce a new nationwide funding initiative for K-12 schools enrolled in the in-school wellness program. The funding initiative provides money to help schools jumpstart and sustain healthy nutrition and physical activity improvements. Eligible schools can apply for up to $3,000 to help them increase awareness of and access to nutrient-rich foods and physical activity opportunities for students.
The funds can be used for a variety of activities and tools, such as foodservice materials and equipment, nutrition and physical education materials, student and staff incentives, staff development and overall Fuel Up to Play 60 program implementation.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation - Active Living Research: Building Evidence to Prevent Childhood Obesity--The purpose of the grant is to support research to inform policy and environmental strategies for increasing physical activity among children and adolescents, decreasing their sedentary behaviors and preventing obesity. The program places emphasis on reaching children and youths who are at highest risk for obesity: Black, Latino, American Indian and Asian/Pacific Islander children, as well as children who live in under-resourced and lower-income communities.
A total of up to $1.5 million will be awarded. The maximum award for a single grant is $150,000. Preference will be given to applicants who are either public entities or 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. Applicant organizations must be based in the United States or its territories.

Unsung Heroes 2011 Awards (National) The ING Unsung Heroes program annually provides grants to K-12 educators utilizing new teaching methods and techniques that improve learning. Each year, educators submit applications for an ING Unsung Heroes grant by describing projects they have initiated or would like to pursue.
